A food-collection bin will be placed in the church. Briarfest volunteers will deliver the bin, and will collect the donated food and the bin on Sept. 8. The donations will be consolidated with those of all participating churches -- an ecumenical expression of support to Mercy’s Gate, which serves the physical, financial, emotional, and spiritual needs of people who live in NE Colorado Springs.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, bring a group from your church to participate in the Walk to End Hunger. Wear your walking shoes and team colors! Bring the kids and the dogs! Starting at the Briarfest location, we’ll walk together, under banners with the name of each participating church, to the King Soopers at Briargate Parkway and Union Boulevard. Representatives of Mercy’s Gate will be on hand to formally receive the combined donation. Then we’ll return to Briarfest. Total distance: just shy of 3 miles.
There’s no cost to participate. Just show up and walk!
The walk begins at the Briarfest location at 9 a.m.
We’ll walk the 1.4 miles to King Soopers at Briargate Parkway and Union Boulevard.
We will be met by Mercy’s Gate representatives to formally receive our collective donation.
Then we’ll walk back to Briarfest -- a sign visible to all of Briargate of service to our neighbors.
